Héctor Fernández Quevedo was born and raised in Havana, Cuba. He currently lives with his family in New Jersey, USA.
He has professional training as a graphic designer and engraver. Hector began working early on in his life in graphic arts at the official William Soler printing press of Cuban postage stamps. While there, he worked & specialized as an engraver under the tutelage of master painter and engraver Miguel Angel Peñate.
Hector’s passion lead him to work with the recognized craftsman, Alfredo Sarabia. One of his major accomplishments as a member of a group of artists and craftspeople, was the restoration of the Polynesian Restaurant in the famous Habana Libre hotel. He was responsible for the interior restoration of the restaurant which included authentic construction of bamboo furniture and other artistic pieces.
Hector ‘s artistic creations have been influenced by his appreciation of surrealism and contemporary art. Some of his favorite artists are H.R. Giger, among many others. If he is not sketching, painting, or sculpting, you will find him taking care of his beloved yard.
